There's no doubt about it, Kitsap County has a long military tradition. Not only does the Navy supply nearly 30,000 jobs to the county for both military and civilian personnel, but our naval museums make Kitsap County a must-see for any military or history buff.
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) - PSNS & IMF is the Pacific Northwest's largest Naval shore facility, one of Washington State's largest industrial installations, and a world-class maintenance facility for the U.S. Navy.
Naval Base, Kitsap - Naval Base, Kitsap, was formed in 2004 by merging together two bases, Naval Station Bremerton, and Naval Submarine Base, Bangor. The Bremerton installation provides world-class facilities, programs, and services to support and improve personnel and logistics readiness, while the Bangor location serves the Navy as a homeport for the TRIDENT submarine Launched Ballistic Missile System. Industrial activities include submarine overhauls, modernization and corrective maintenance, assembly and processing missiles and components, and training military and civilian personnel on the latest military technologies.
Naval Hospital Bremerton - The Naval Hospital, Bremerton, has command and control responsibilities for five branch medical clinics. The command also operates the Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene operation, the Alcohol Treatment Department, provides a Family Practice teaching program, and is home to Fleet Hospital Bremerton.
Navy Region Northwest - Headquartered in Kitsap County, Navy Region Northwest coordinates base operating support functions for operating forces throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska.
Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport - This center provides test and evaluation, in-service engineering, maintenance, and repair, fleet readiness, and industrial-base support for undersea warfare systems, countermeasures, and sonar systems.
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) - The largest of the Navy's five systems commands, NAVSEA engineers, builds, and supports America's fleet of ships and combat systems.
Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC) Puget Sound - FISC Puget Sound is one of seven FISCs, under the Commander, Fleet and Industrial Supply Centers (COMFISCS) and the Naval Supply Systems Command, deliver combat capability through logistics.
