Tech event on tap for IT staff at public agencies

Kitsap Bank receives corporate philanthropy award

Kitsap Bank was recently recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal as a 2013 Corporate Philanthropist. "Kitsap Bank is honored to be recognized for such a prestigious award," said Anthony George, the bank's president and chief 0perating officer. "Over the past five years, we have had the privilege in contributing $1.25 million to nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve, and in 2013, we will be donating over $300,000 to over 100 nonprofit organizations. In addition, our employees have volunteered over 5,200 hours in our communities over the past year." Read more

President Obama to nominate Leonard Forsman, Chairman of the Suquamish Tribe, to Key Administrative Post

President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate Leonard Forsman to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.President Obama said, “I am confident that these outstanding individuals will greatly serve the American people in their new roles and I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come.”

Leonard Forsman is Chairman of the Suquamish Tribe, a position he has held since 2005.  Read more

Governor Inslee announces statewide Aerospace Industry Strategy

May 9, 2013 -- Gov. Jay Inslee today kicked off a statewide effort to have the Boeing 777X built in Washington, which he said would protect and grow thousands of aerospace jobs for another generation. The governor, who appeared at the Future of Flight Aviation Center to make his announcement, was surrounded by legislators, state and local government officials, industry leaders from business and labor, and educators from across the state. Kitsap County Community Development will restore Friday hours for limited services

May 6, 2013 By The KPBJ 

Beginning May 10, the Kitsap County Department of Community Development  will be open to the public for limited services on Fridays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Services available include building permit submittal and issuance, Planner-of-the-Day (general inquiries), and building review questions and inspection coordination. The department is open for all normal services from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Read more

Jeff Reynolds, a senior vice president at Kitsap Bank, was instrumental in arranging an SBA loan for Rick Flaherty's company to begin manufacturing a new kind of LED replacement bulb for industrial lighting. A convergence of factors led to approval of a loan for a Kitsap County manufacturing company that had sought unsuccessfully for months to secure financing to start production of a breakthrough LED product it developed for industrial lighting uses.
