Kitsap retail sales up 10 percent in first quarter

Tad Sooter, Minding Your Business, Puget Sound Blogs Retail sales increased 9.7 percent in Kitsap County during the first three months of the year, outpacing the statewide growth in sales. Washington jobless rate holds steady at 5.8 percent

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state added an estimated 8,700 jobs last month and the unemployment rate held steady at 5.8 percent. In numbers released Wednesday by the state Employment Security Department, officials said the May jobless rate matches April’s numbers. The national unemployment rate for May was 4.7 percent. Taxable retail sales increase in 2015

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state revenue officials say taxable retail sales in 2015 topped $135 billion. That was an 8.4 percent increase over 2014. The retail trade sector helped drive the increase. Those sales jumping 5.9 percent to nearly $60 billion. The construction sector also rose significantly in 2015, with $24.5 billion in taxable sales.
