EAST BREMERTON — What will East Bremerton look like once Harrison Medical Center is gone?

City officials will attempt to answer that question with a boost from the Legislature’s supplemental budget, approved last week.

The city will get $450,000 to study the Highway 303 corridor through East Bremerton and another $280,000 to create a strategic plan for the area around the Cherry Avenue campus of Harrison Medical Center, which is expected to close in 2020. CHI Franciscan is building a $500 million Harrison campus in Silverdale.

“It’ll give us a blueprint for investment,” Bremerton Mayor Greg Wheeler said. “And give us a well-thought out, organized and coordinated plan.”
