The median home price in Kitsap topped $300,000 in May, as a spurt of new home listings caused pending sales to spike.

Houses and condominiums sold for a median of $307,250 last month, up 8 percent from May of 2016, according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service.

Prices typically peak in summer. The county’s median home price did not surpass $300,000 at any point last year.

New home listings lifted Kitsap’s real estate market out of an early spring sales funk. Year-over-year pending sales activity was down in both March and April, hampered by a shortage of homes for sale.
