INSPIRED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THAT WORKS FOR KITSAP
Celebrating Economic Development Week with focus on Campaign for Kitsap

This is Economic Development Week, a national celebration of organizations like the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) that are dedicated to creating jobs, advancing career development opportunities, and increasing quality of life.

This week (May 8-13) Economic Development Organizations, or EDOs, around the country will be highlighting local programs that stimulate business development and retention.

“Economic Development encompasses many aspects of people’s lives within their communities; growth, prosperity and the hope for a better future for themselves, their families, their businesses and their communities. All of this is made possible by striving to achieve the most powerful force in our economy; good jobs,” said F. Michael Langley, CEO of Greater MSP, IEDC 2017 Chairman of the Board.

Locally, KEDA’s efforts influence the quality of life for all of Kitsap’s citizens and organizations. John Powers, KEDA Executive Director, reports “Over the past five years KEDA has assisted more than 600 local businesses impacting 30,000 jobs and resulting in $225M in new business revenues and over $2B in new capital invested in Kitsap’s economy.”

KEDA is a proud member of the International Economic Development Council, which created this celebratory week, and has been a past winner of IEDC’s Excellence Awards for best in class work on behalf of this community. This year IEDC will be taking special notice of KEDA, as our “Campaign for Kitsap” and newly created promotional materials for the campaign will be considered for national recognition.

Campaign for Kitsap – Inspired Economic Development highlights stories of Kitsap business owners who explain how KEDA has helped them succeed and grow. Alanna Imbach, co-founder of VIBE, a new co-working space opening in Poulsbo this fall, shared her experience, “KEDA has been invaluable to us in shaping our plan and approach for Vibe, as well as continuing to build our network and extended reach.”

A successful campaign will enable Kitsap to serve more businesses, and double its outreach in business development, expansion and retention. More information about the campaign is found at Campaign4Kitsap.com.
